Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a new function, bringing together Operational & Resilience Risk (ORR) and parts of Risk Strategy and Macroeconomic Risk.

It is a combined Risk Stewardship and Oversight sub-function within Global Risk and Compliance which aims at supporting the integration of the Group Framework and Appetite Management and providing broad oversight of our Non-Financial Risk Taxonomy.

Our purpose is to make sure HSBC understands and is in control of its non-financial risk position, and we create robust governance, processes and procedures that ensure effective management of the function.


Risk reporting is a complicated and fast-developing area owing to the regulatory & senior management requirements and the level of competition in financial markets, which demands ever more accurate and reliable measures of risk.


Complex data flows between systems in individual regions, and then from regions across to Group require in depth engagement with stakeholders across HSBC to ensure that data is interpreted correctly and is fit for regulatory purposes.

The jobholder needs to demonstrate an expertise in concepts related to Risk Reporting and Non-financial Risk.

The role is located in Krakow and has global reach.

The jobholder is required to work in an environment of significant ambiguity with autonomy, dealing with major issues for which there is no clear solution whilst still being able to provide judgment and clear direction.

The jobholder is expected to demonstrate a high level of technical and non-financial risk expertise.


The role will be responsible for the provisioning of subject matter expertise to support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Leadership Team (LT) and ERM Assurance teams discharge their responsibilities in relation to operational risk and resilience risk steward delivery across all service areas, delivery of assurance activities, embedding of assurance practices and embedding of stewardship activities and service catalogue in respective GB/GF/Specialist team.

What you'll do


Coordinate and support the production of accurate and timely risk Management Information (MI) for GBM, CMB, and CER global team, key stakeholders and senior executive and non-executive governance committees.

Review and constructively challenge data and report content, and provide insightful analysis, escalating issues as required.
Working closely with the team to bring innovation and pace to developing and enhancing reporting products and processes.

Work with Global Lines of Business, Global Functions and Specialist team as required to complete reporting products for senior committees to tight timescales.

Ability to engage with a range of complex information and issues arising across multiple risk types, and to understand and synthesize the key issues at a group level, and to support the team to prepare accurate, insightful and timely reports covering relevant matters.

Delivery, tracking and embedding of stewardship activities and service catalogue in respective GBM, CMB, and CER global team.

Ensure that the GBM, CMB and CER teams are aware of responsibilities, new/change of risk steward requirements and supporting stakeholders to manage their teams' deliverables.

Create solutions basis the knowledge of Risk systems to optimize the timeliness and accuracy of results

What you need to have to succeed in this role

Familiarity with reporting tools, operational reporting processes and report production is desirable.

Demonstrable experience of assurance / audit activities and techniques, or 2LOD stewardship for one or more of the ERM risk types.

Relevant external financial services qualification (e.g. CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CISA).
Experience in developing and deploying automated testing and data analytics techniques.
Experience of process mapping and delivering professional reports and presentations gained within a financial services organization or audit/consulting practice.
Experience of regulatory priorities, UK regulatory engagement and delivering regulatory outputs.
'Can Do' attitude with a strong focus on getting things done; ability to work autonomously, and under pressure with time sensitive deadlines. Deep understanding of Risk Management Framework and Non-Financial Risks, including sound understanding / knowledge of Resilience Risk.
Experience of process mapping and delivering professional reports and presentations gained within a financial services organisation or audit/consulting practice.
