ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are on the lookout for an Engineering Manager to lead our Privacy Services team at Schibsted Media. This pivotal role is at the heart of our commitment to protecting user privacy and ensuring compliance with GDPR, e-privacy, and other privacy regulations. You will lead a dedicated team of 5 software engineers, overseeing the development and maintenance of critical privacy technologies that keep us at the forefront of data protection.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire the Privacy Services team, ensuring high motivation and efficiency in developing cost-effective technology solutions for privacy compliance.
- Oversee the continuous development and enhancement of our Privacy Broker platform, ensuring swift and accurate compliance with user data deletion requests and data take-outs.
- Develop our Privacy Settings platform to manage and refine the system that oversees customer permissions for the use of their profile data.
- Direct the advancement of our Consent Management Platform, maintaining a robust system for capturing and managing customer consents regarding behavioural data use.
- Ensure all privacy-related systems are compliant with current laws and adaptable to future changes in privacy regulations, safeguarding our reputation and customer trust.
Who You Are:
- A visionary leader with a strong background in software engineering and a deep understanding of privacy laws and regulations.
- Experienced in managing technical teams, with a proven track record of motivating engineers to deliver high-quality, efficient solutions.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining systems for privacy compliance, with an emphasis on GDPR, e-privacy, and consent management.
- An adept problem-solver who can navigate the complexities of privacy regulations and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Committed to building privacy-focused systems that are both compliant and flexible, enabling quick adaptation to the ever-evolving landscape of privacy laws.

Key competencies:
- Technical Proficiency in Implementing Privacy Solutions: Solid understanding of the technical aspects required to ensure GDPR compliance and adherence to privacy regulations, with the capability to architect and oversee the development of systems that protect user data and privacy.
- Leadership in Software Engineering: Proven track record of leading software engineering teams, inspiring and motivating engineers to deliver high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective privacy-focused solutions.
- Experience with Privacy Technologies: Strong background in developing and managing technologies related to data privacy and Consent Management Platforms.
- Adaptability to Regulatory Changes: Ability to quickly adapt privacy systems and processes to comply with evolving privacy laws, ensuring the organisation remains ahead of regulatory changes and maintains customer trust.

- Experience with Data Security Measures: Understanding of data security best practices and technologies to enhance the privacy and protection of user data, including encryption, anonymization, and secure data storage solutions.
- Proficiency in Data Governance and Ethics: Insight into data governance principles and ethical considerations in data management, supporting the development of privacy-centric policies and practices that respect user rights.
- Innovative Approach to Privacy by Design: Ability to innovate and implement "Privacy by Design" principles in product development, ensuring privacy is an integral part of the development process from the outset.
- Cross-functional Collaboration Skills: Strong ability to work across different departments, understanding their data usage needs while ensuring privacy compliance, facilitating a cohesive approach to privacy that aligns with business objectives and user expectations.
