Job Description

The candidate for the PKI technical engineer position will be responsible for advancing and streamlining the PKI infrastructure across the organization. This individual will be instrumental in creating PKI solutions to fulfill security and operational needs. An in-depth comprehension of cryptography principles like Symmetric/asymmetric cryptography, Secure hash functions, Digital signatures, SSL/TLS is essential.

The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of security best practices.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support and enhance company-wide PKI services utilizing current Certification Authorities (CAs) and Registration Authorities
  • Design and implement Orchestration and Automation of Enterprise certificate management
  • Design and implement Enterprise Code Signing Services
  • Provide advice and direction to application teams regarding cryptographic technologies
  • Develop secure vaulting solutions employing Hardware Security Modules (HSM) and Key Management systems (KMS)
  • Support Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) servers
  • Design, test, and implement changes in the PKI Infrastructure
  • Collaborate with vendors offering security/encryption services to the organization
  • Lead the creation and execution of POCs related to PKI and other certificate technologies
  • Create and maintain system orchestration for automating daily processes
  • Develop and sustain ad-hoc and automated data reporting using appropriate vendor tooling or custom automation
  • Generate and maintain documentation for technical and administrative functions
  • Enhance the framework for system monitoring and create tooling for automated notifications and reporting/metrics generation
  • Provide guidance for scoping complex, cross-organizational projects
  • Devise automation strategies to address PKI lifecycle hurdles
  • Assess legacy PKI solutions for security vulnerabilities and devise mitigation strategies
  • Establish standards and methods to facilitate seamless integration across technical platforms
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to comprehend the security and operational implications of PKI strategy
  • Serve as a technical lead on initiatives involving PKI technologies
  • Promote PKI capability and integration across core security and IT functions
  • Develop and deploy solutions to ensure optimal performance of Digital Credential Services in line with specifications and security policies
  • Integrate applications and third-party products into internal services

Skills/Knowledge Desired:

  • Certificate Authority Administration
  • Certificate Enrollment Web Service & Policy Web Service
  • Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) monitoring
  • PKI as service
  • Data-in-motion Encryption
  • Data-at-rest Encryption
  • Proficiency in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) machine identity technologies such as SSH, SSL/TLS
  • Familiarity with Disaster Recovery process and Business Continuity procedures
  • Experience in managing Key Management Systems (KMS)
  • Ability to devise and implement optimized solutions for systems and processes
  • Proficiency in a scripting language like Java, Python, or Powershell
  • Experience in database configuration and SQL
  • Proficiency in workflow and API development
  • Capability to organize and streamline complex data sets

Experience Desired

  • 9+ years of experience in PKI architecture
  • 9+ years of System Administration in Windows, Unix/Linux
  • 9+ years of experience in infrastructure (security/systems/network) engineering and/or development
  • 9+ years in technology and/or project management leadership roles
  • 9+ years of experience in developing executive-level reporting and communications
  • 9+ years of experience in establishing and defining the scope of new teams or functions
  • 9+ years of experience in large, intricate environments (experience in financial services is an advantage)
