Senior Site Reliability Engineer

What you'll be doing
- Design, develop, and enhance the SRE practice at Zendesk.
- Implement reliable practices for troubleshooting and enhancing system performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to address complex performance and reliability issues.
- Be on-call to quickly address product issues and assist teams in efficiently resolving them during incidents.
- Create essential tools to streamline engineering team processes and promote the benefits of a Reliability-focused approach.
- Establish standards for Observability to ensure uniformity, encourage innovation, and improve cost-effectiveness.

What you bring to the role
- Data-driven and passionate about observability.
- Enjoy helping others learn and grow through collaboration, code review, and tech discussions.
- Ability to lead, partner, and collaborate effectively across various engineering teams.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in Software Development and/or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Proficiency in AWS, infrastructure, software design, and backend systems.
- Adept at navigating unfamiliar codebases and languages.
- Experience with developing and managing large-scale distributed systems.
- Knowledge of Python or Golang.
- Experience with Datadog or similar Observability tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across diverse systems.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Kubernetes Clusters.
- Familiarity with OSS Observability tools.
- Knowledge of Ruby.
- Understanding of incident lifecycles and on-call processes.
Tech Stack
- Zendesk's codebase primarily includes Go, Ruby, and Scala.
- The stack operates on Kubernetes within AWS.
- Observability relies on Datadog and open-source tooling.
- Tool development in Python and Go.
