Job Description

You will be creating the UX/UI of a wide variety of applications used by tens of thousands of internal users every day. This is an opportunity to push yourself as a designer, we require problem solvers with the ability to build highly sophisticated tools for professionals. You will be given freedom to explore solutions, experiment with new ideas and to adopt tools and practices you deem fit. 

As a designer, you will need to:  

  1. understand the problem 

  1. understand the user 

We do not build mass market products. Our focus is custom made tools for experienced users, as such we require an experienced designer. Someone who knows when to follow the crowd and when to carve their own path when it comes to building interfaces. 

  • Gather requirements from the product, customer success and development teams, as well as end users 

  • You will need to immerse yourself in our tech to understand the boundaries of our system. (You will be given lots of training, time and resource to understand our platform). 

  • Wireframe quickly and efficiently to provide options that will help pin down requirements from all stakeholders 

  • Prototyping – On larger projects you may be required to build simple prototypes to help people understand your solutions. 

  • Produce high-fidelity designs based on the wireframes 

  • Present design ideas to key stakeholders 

  • Be an evangelist for best design practices, use of data in design, standards and accessibility 

  • Develop the rOar brand, our products are branded as produced by our team. You will be given time and resources to develop this brand and to oversee its evolution. 


Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of full time employment as a UI/UX designer 

  • Experience in working on large applications 

  • Experience with project management, resource management and time tracking  systems are highly desirable 

  • Experience in building intuitive sophisticated UI’s 

  • Comfortable working as the sole designer on the team. Don’t worry we are a very close knit and social team, however you will be the only designer on the team (this could easily change as we are growing fast) 

  • Experience in working with developers (especially with frontend teams to see projects to fruition) 

  • Experience using modern design tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch, Zeplin, Marvel, Axure 

  • Organisation skills, you will need to have your files organised, presentations will need to be thought out and practiced to make the best case for our team’s work. 

  • Rapidly prototype wireframes and present them to the team and stakeholders. 

  • Experience with Google Material Design 

  • Talent for drawing (and even better, painting) is a great bonus 

  • Soft skills: 

  • Keen problem solver 

  • Good communication skills 

  • Able to present idea with cogent reasoning 

  • Able to compromise and make changes to solutions
