Our Client operates the electricity transmission system in the north and east of Germany, which it expands as needed for the energy transition. Their extra high voltage grid has an electrical circuit length of more than 10,600 kilometres, or the distance between Berlin and Rio de Janeiro.

You will take a part in The Transition Smart Energy Platform project aims to take over the existing software solution to receive, aggregate and balance the data from an external vendor in a stepwise approach. While taking over the software the modules are separated, and the Twelve-Factor App principles are applied to realize a cloud-native application. The focus within the project will be the design of a performant, scalable, reliable (acid like) and cloud native data processing approach which is capable of handling mass-data within defined processing times

your daily tasks

Application Architecture: Architect Cloud Native applications with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
Application Migration: Assist in the migration of existing applications from Openshift to EDP Kubernetes (RKE2) environments.
Application Deployment: Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes clusters using Helm Charts and a GitOps workflow.
DevOps & CI/CD: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using CI/CD Tools. Promote DevOps best practices including GitOps, infrastructure as code, and automated testing.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to Architect, migrate, and operationalize modules of the Smart Energy Platform.
Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation using Confluence and manage project tasks and workflows using Jira.

The individual must be a Senior Cloud Native Application Architect.

- Expertise in Java Programming: Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Java, including experience with objectoriented programming, design patterns, and developing scalable, high-performance applications.- Application of Well-Architected Principles from Google, AWS, or Azure: Proven ability to implement cloud architecture best practices from major providers (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft
Azure) in real-world projects, ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions.
- DevOps practitioner: Strong understanding and experience with CI/CD, GitOps, secrets management, and infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of the Kubernetes Ecosystem: Kubernetes, IAM, RBAC, and infrastructure automation.
- Data Services: Experience building apps using data services such as relational and NoSQL databases, Kafka, and other message brokers.
- Security and Quality: Experience in security and quality best practices, including secrets management, security scans, and code quality.
- Experience in instrumenting apps for Observability: instrumenting apps using observability libraries/sdks (such as OpenTelemetry) to provide observability and monitoring tools with logs, metrics, and
traces to ensure the health and performance of Cloud Native applications.
