Department Head – Digital Mining Technologies

The Department Head for Digital Mining Technologies will be responsible for partnering with the central, regional and local stakeholders of the Mining business function, designing, delivering, and operating value add solutions to the business. This role will work very close with peer functions, especially with Manufacturing and R&D to ensure close alignment on strategic directions and goals.

The competence covers the business relationship, deriving the strategic roadmap for this technology area based on the business roadmap, and ensure execution and operating all relevant services together with the business in one joint team.


What you'll do
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement a business alignment digital mining strategy that aligns with the overall company’s business objectives
  • Strategy Execution: Oversee the selection, implementation, and operations of relevant technologies, including the integration into the wider Knauf Eco-System
  • Leadership: Enhance, lead and mentor a team for Digital Mining Solutions, fostering a close collaboration with the business and drive a culture of empowerment and innovation
  • Financial Management: Own and manage the respective technology budget end-to-end (Implementing, Operating, Licensing, etc.)
  • Change Management: Lead change management initiatives to drive adoption of new technologies and processes across the organization
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate very close with key stakeholders in the business, within IT and other support functions (e.g. Security, Compliance, Manufacturing, HR)
Who you are
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, Physics, Chemics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT Management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focusing on IIoT, Manufacturing, Mining or related.
  • Skills:
    · Strong understanding of Manufacturing Processing Industry
    · Strong understanding of Manufacturing, I4.0 and or Mining trends
    · Excellent change management skills.
    · Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse, global team.
    · Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    · Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  •  Language Skills: Proficiency in English is a must; additional proficiency in German is advantageous.
  • Travel: The team is/will be located across three main locations in Germany, Poland and Malaysia and requires regular onsite presence. Ability to travel of 25% of your time and up to 50% during transformational peak periods is required.
