About the team
The Location Intelligence Engineering team is part of the Delivery Experience (DEX) area in Allegro. We focus on development of geospatial solutions supporting the company's internal delivery network expansion process in Last Mile (i.e. OneBox parcel machines, Same Day delivery) and Middle Mile (network of warehouses and logistics centers) both in Poland and abroad. The unique scale and complexity of the problems we solve every day give us the opportunity to develop in very diverse projects that include the aspect of geospatial (GIS) data, tools and software. We create and maintain data structures that provide information support for business teams.
As a Junior/Mid Geospatial Data Engineer working with Esri ArcGIS technologies, you will help us transform Allegro's rich data resources together with external data into the Big Geodata product and help us build a number of applications and geospatial tools supporting multi-dimensional business around our platform. To achieve that, you will work with data stored in GCP Big Query warehouse, pipelined in Cloud Composer workflows and exposed through Esri ArcGIS environment web services and applications. We are looking for people who:
- Have working experience with geospatial databases using GIS technology (i.e. PostgreSQL + PostGIS)
- Are interested in geospatial technologies from Esri and want to develop in this direction (knowledge of ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise environment will be a great advantage)
- Can optimize SQL queries in traditional database engines (i.e. PostgreSQL)
- Can and like programming in Python (using PySpark or Airflow)
- Have at least 2 years of commercial experience working with GIS data
- Enjoy creating appealing and informative map visualization
- Are open to expand in various areas: backend, big data, analytics, product work, data visualization and interested in the area of statistics and data science
- Apply good practices (clean code, code review, CI/CD);
- Have a positive attitude and teamwork skills
- Expect work that has a deeper meaning (not just 'ordered by management') and they want to enjoy its results
- Want to be proud of the code they create. They willingly accept comments and share knowledge during code reviews
- Are able to look for effective solutions to the requirements set by users
- Want to constantly develop and update their knowledge
- Have English proficiency on at least B2 level
- Have a higher technical education (preferred field of study: computer science, geodesy, geoinformatics or related fields)

- We are expanding relatively new, geospatial competences within Allegro - Location Intelligence. We are combining the world of traditional geospatial systems (GIS) with Big Data solutions and architecture based on Google Cloud Platform
- We are building solutions supporting Allegro's logistics function based on external suppliers such as Google, Esri and Carto
- Big Data is not an empty slogan for us, but a reality (several petabytes of data) - you will work on really large data sets using tools provided by Google
- We are creating a central repository of Allegro geospatial data, combining data generated within the organization with data from external suppliers.
- Our tech stack includes: Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Composer), Python, SQL, Esri ArcGIS Online and Enterprise
- You will have a real influence on the directions of product development and the choice of technology. Location Intelligence technology stack is still expanding, we are talking to the best global solution providers in this area.
