We are looking for an experienced Principal Data Engineer/ Prompt Engineer to join our growing Global Delivery Team within the Enterprise Customer Success Department. You will improve our data and data pipeline architecture and optimize data flow and collection for associated teams. You are an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will support software developers, data analysts, and data scientists on data projects and will ensure data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.

You will report to Senior Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Assemble complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional requirements.
  2. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  3. Build the infrastructure required for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from different data sources using SQL and AWS 'big data' technologies.
  4. Build analytics tools that use the data pipeline to provide applicable insights into employee experience, operational efficiency, and other main performance metrics.
  5. Work with team members to assist with data-related technical issues and support associated data infrastructure needs.
  6. Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  7. Keep up to date with the latest features and capabilities from public cloud providers (such as AWS and Azure) and find ways to apply them to help their team.
  8. Work with data scientists and analysts to enhance functionality in our data systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role with a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
  2. Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Scala.
  3. Experience with big data tools such as PySpark.
  4. Experience with relational SQL databases.
  5. Experience with AWS cloud services used for data engineering including S3, EC2, Glue, Lambda, RDS, or Redshift.
  6. Experience working with APIs to pull and push data.
  7. Advanced SQL experience with relational databases, query authoring, and familiarity with various databases.
  8. Experience optimizing 'big data' pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
  9. Experience performing root cause analysis on data and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience working with AWS CloudFormation templates.
  2. Experience with NoSQL databases, including Postgres and AWS DynamoDB.
  3. Familiarity with Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
  4. Experience working with PowerBI to develop dashboards.
  5. Analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  6. A successful history of processing value from large, disconnected datasets.
  7. Experience working with agile, globally distributed teams.
  8. Design and develop prompts for various applications, including text generation, translation, question answering, and creative writing.
  9. Collaborate with product teams, data scientists, and engineers to understand user needs and translate them into effective prompts.
  10. Analyse and iterate on prompts based on performance metrics and user feedback to ensure high-quality outputs.
  11. Conduct experiments and research to test new prompting techniques and optimize existing workflows.
  12. Stay up to date on advancements in natural language processing (NLP) and AI, and apply those insights to your work.
  13. Document and communicate your work clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
