University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Social and Economic Geography, Institute of Geography and Regional Development at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management.

The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Polish language to a degree that allows teaching in this language.
  • Knowledge of the English language to a degree that allows teaching in this language.
  • Doctoral degree in: socio-economic geography and spatial planning or in geography with a specialization in socio-economic geography.
  • Research interests related to transportation geography, confirmed by publications.
  • Scientific publications in the field of socio-economic geography and spatial planning, including at least 1 book and 5 publications in journals indexed in the Scopus database.
  • Active participation in scientific conferences.
  • Teaching experience in issues related to socio-economic geography, regional development, economics.
  • Documented participation in courses, trainings, internships projects in the field of socio-economic geography and spatial planning.
  • Ability to use statistical methods and GIS tools.
  • Organizational predisposition to carry out didactics, conferences, scientific research and field activities.
  • Other forms of scientific, professional and applied activity (scholarships, awards).

Responsibilities

Research Area:

  • Independent and team research.
  • Establishing cooperation with scientists/researchers from other scientific centers.
  • Obtaining external funds for conducting scientific research.
  • Initiating cooperation with entities of the socio-economic environment.

Didactic Area:

  • Conducting didactic classes in Polish language.
  • Cooperation with Academic Science Clubs.
  • Participation in the process of organizing the educational process.

Organizational Area:

  • Active participation in projects undertaken by the Department of Social and Economic Geography (including participation in Department meetings, organization of seminars, conferences, thematic meetings, etc.).

  • Self-presentation (information about scientific, organizational, and other achievements).
  • List of scientific publications in the last ten years.
  • Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of their scientific achievements or an explanation of the lack of them.
