The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As a Metrics & Automation Analyst, Global Procurement, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  1. Creating, supporting, and enhancing scheduled and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and data sets pertaining to Procurement activity: Procurement KPIs, Spend, Supplier Performance, Procurement Operations, etc.

  2. Developing standardized self-service reporting, analytics, & automated data workflows to deliver insight at scale and enable effective decision-making.

  3. Using standard analytics tools, primarily SQL and Power BI, to extract and consolidate data directly from numerous systems including purchase orders, requisitions, shopping carts, contracts, purchase pricing, invoices, vendors, and materials.

  4. Translating business problems into technical solutions by consulting with business stakeholders to scope and define project deliverables and milestones.

  5. Providing end-user training, enhancement testing, data governance, and operational support across the Procurement reporting portfolio as a Procurement data subject matter expert.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  2. Four (4) years of Procurement or Supply Chain process experience in one of the following or similar: Contracting, Category Management, Buying, AP Post Audit, Internal Audit, Planning, Vendor/Material Data Management, etc.

  3. Four (4) years of experience modeling or shaping data and presenting output to end consumers using SQL, Excel, Python, VBA, or similar tools in a private, public, government, or military environment.

  4. Two (2) years of full development lifecycle experience in Power BI, SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence, Snowflake, SAP HANA, SQL Server, or other enterprise business intelligence tools and data warehouses in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  1. Advanced degree in business, analytics, data modeling, or statistics.

  2. Knowledge of end-to-end Procurement processes including purchase order (PO), request to buy (requisition/shopping cart), contracting, invoicing/accounts payable, Procurement data management.

  3. Track record of intellectual curiosity and process improvement/automation, with an ability to influence and persuade cross-functional teams through data.

  4. Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  5. Proven problem-solving skills, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills.

  6. Appropriately engages stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  7. Familiarity with Python sufficient for running and performing basic maintenance of existing scripts for data extraction and reporting.

  8. Proficiency in designing and building data models, DAX-based measures, and visualizations to enable optimal use of Microsoft Power BI.

  9. An ability to work independently to discover new ways for adding efficiency across the full range of your duties by incorporating novel technological advancements.

Job specifics:

Travel: May include up to 5% international or domestic.

Work location: Hybrid with 2/3 days per week in a 3M office.
