Offer Description

The expectation is that the candidate will conduct scientific research in a timely manner (according to the tasks in the project following timetable from the project proposal), present the results during internal project meetings, on international conferences and publish them. The scientific scope includes optical characterization of single and double quantum dots in nanowires in InP-based material system by means of, among others, (micro)photoluminescence (excitation), time-resolved spectroscopy and photon correlation measurements in the near infrared spectral range at low cryogenic temperatures.

Tasks:

  • Conducting and directing scientific research in accordance to tasks in the research project,
  • Performing optical spectroscopy measurements on structures provided by technological partners in the project,
  • Data analysis and preparing internal reports,
  • Preparing input for external reports, conference presentations and scientific publications.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Master degree in physical sciences.
  • Knowledge of solid state physics, in particular physics of low dimensional structures, quantum mechanics and quantum optics.
  • Experience in optical spectroscopy at low temperatures and near infrared range.
  • Experience in data analysis in OriginLab or equivalent scientific software.
  • Experience in presenting scientific results (international conferences, publications).
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.

  • information on academic and professional internships of at least 1 month.

The competition is open to candidates who meet the conditions set forth in the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2022, item 574, as amended), in the Statute of Wrocław University of Science and Technology and in the Code of Ethics Employees of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

Before establishing an employment relationship with the person who wins the competition, Wrocław University of Science and Technology will conduct a verification in accordance with the provisions of the Act of May 13, 2016, on preventing threats related to sexual crimes and protecting minors. The data necessary for this verification (PESEL number, or in its absence, maiden name, father's name, mother's name, and date of birth) will be obtained solely from the selected individual and should not be provided during the application stage.

In the title of the message, please indicate the reference number of the competition. Applications without indicating a specific reference number and those sent after the deadline for submission of offers will not be considered.

Applications of candidates will be considered by the competition committee.

Stage I. Evaluation of candidates on the base of submitted documentation in the categories:

  • scientific activities and achievements, implemented projects, awards, scientific mobility (weight 70%),
  • organizational activities (weight 30%).

Stage II. An interview including the presentation of previous scientific activity and planned scientific research. Candidates selected based on the first stage of evaluation are invited to the interview.

The final grade in each category is determined by the committee taking into account the interview process.

The University stipulates that the competition may be unresolved without giving reasons.
