The Position

The External Manufacturing Buyer role is part of the External Manufacturing Procurement team, reporting to the External Manufacturing Category Manager. The position is based on remote work with cross-functional teams in Europe and the USA, with occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Procurement in cross-functional teams supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Lead sourcing activities, RFx processes, supplier risk assessment, and onboarding.
  • Contract and Claim Management: Lead negotiation and implementation of new contracts, contract renewals, amendments, and statement of work; participate in claim resolution process.
  • Supplier Management: Evaluate suppliers' performance (KPI, dashboards) and ensure execution of relevant action plans in case of insufficient performance; coordinate with other departments for supplier oversight (supply chain, technical, quality, regulatory, legal, etc.). Participate in Business review meetings preparation.
  • Support Category Management: Support Category Manager in defining strategy and reviewing preferred suppliers; study CDMO market dynamics and specific technologies; apply defined category strategy.

Requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor's degree in science and/or Master's degree.
  • Experience in direct procurement, ideally in the pharmaceutical, biomedical, or chemical industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management, ideally in the CDMO environment.
  • Skilled in project management: set and prioritize goals, identify deliverables, perform risk/gap assessments, and manage stakeholders.
  • Experience in working in cross-functional multicultural teams; proficient in utilizing risk management processes.
  • Ideal experience in a GMP environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written English required.
  • For Biologics and Sterile position: Procurement experience of Biologics drug substance and/or sterile drug product will be an added advantage.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence others at all levels, particularly in a highly scientific and technical environment.
  • Professional, analytical, and organizational rigor.
  • Ability to work in complex environments and handle challenging situations (e.g., short deadlines).
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication assertiveness in negotiation.
  • Creative in identifying and resolving problems, with a hands-on drive to implement and achieve company goals and objectives in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally with suppliers and partners.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding of global business practices.
