Join our team as an Automation Test Engineer
In your role as an Automation Test Engineer, you will be responsible for co-creating new test approaches, testing our bank-wide processes (including technical implementation of BPMN workflows). This includes developing, configuring, and maintaining automated tests.
Your tasks will be to ensure high stability of our applications and processes in production environments. This includes providing proper test documentation and necessary preventive actions needed to have stable production rollouts without incidents.
We are searching for a person who is not afraid of trying new approaches and bringing best practices to the table to validate them within the Commerzbank environment. If you have a passion for technical challenges, coding, and automation, we want to hear from you
You will be responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining automated tests for BPMN workflows.
- Collaborating with developers, business analysts, and process owners to understand the requirements and ensure that the testing process is aligned with the workflow.
- Creating technical and/or business-focused test cases based on business requirements and technical design.
- Planning automated test data generation.
- Cross-team collaboration as well as close collaboration with developers inside the team.
- Writing, reviewing, and optimizing automation test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools and languages.
- Planning, running, and managing results of tests.
- Creating logs and test documentation.
Which technology & skills are important for us?
- Experience with creating automation test cases (especially for testing company-wide BPMN workflows with tools like Camunda).
- Experience in UI test automation and backend test automation (Java, Kafka, REST Assured).
- Practical knowledge of testing tools and frameworks like Cucumber, Playwright, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Experience using tools like Postman, Octane (or HPALM), and Jira is beneficial.

Description of the cluster:
Customer Data Management (CDM) harmonizes the currently heterogeneous application landscape for customer master data to enable fast and efficient access across the bank and to create the basis for a new standard of data quality. We create group-wide views of personal and customer master data and link these to alliances for internal and regulatory processes.
CORE is an acronym for Commerzbank Related Entities. CORE is a group-wide static/master data application of Commerzbank AG which focuses on person, organization, and group views. CORE comprises various modules like CORE Person, CORE GlobalParty & Verbund, and CORE Admin, with a newly written ONE.Person frontend that enables online customers to self-manage static data. The CDM Cluster plays a vital role in enabling processes for documents and process automation. The importance of person, organization, and group views has grown significantly in the last years due to regulatory requirements and from a sales perspective. It is therefore an integral part of our business model.
