We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team and help us achieve our goals.

Description:

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, the qualifying candidate will be part of the Embedded Software App team in developing, sustaining, and supporting firmware and platforms for Fluke's product line. Work on this team will involve the development of challenging, cutting-edge firmware for handheld and benchtop instruments used in test and measurement, calibration, networking, infrared/acoustic imaging, and power quality. Our firmware enables our customers to visualize, diagnose, track, calibrate, and report issues using a wide range of Fluke products.

This candidate will have significant input and responsibility for designing and implementing embedded software solutions for our products. They will develop effective, efficient, and reliable embedded software during project phases and continuously improve the existing firmware platform to meet customer needs. They will collaborate with a team distributed across various sites in the EU and be part of a highly regarded group of like-minded engineers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a contributor to major development projects, including being a technical leader for components within such developments.
  • Assignments include development of new applications, features, enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing firmware.
  • Design, implement, test, and maintain firmware based on Embedded Linux for ARM core processors.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documents (Embedded Software Design Document), diagrams, code comments, and readable code.
  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals.
  • Able to perform comfortably in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Provide guidance and work direction to junior engineers as we grow.
  • Build a positive work culture on-site, inclusive of others in remote locations.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical field with a strong embedded firmware/software development background.
  • At least 8+ years in C/C++ coding experience.
  • Experience with Agile-based development processes, preferably Scrum, on multiple projects.
  • At least 8+ years' experience developing software for technical products, experience with full software lifecycle.
  • At least 8+ years professional software development experience in Linux application software on Linux OS/ARM core processor.
  • At least 8+ years' experience with C/C++, Object-Oriented Design/Development, Multi-threaded Programming, Software Architecture, Design Patterns, and Linux OS.
  • Demonstrable experience in other languages (Python, etc.) is a bonus, as well as experience with different frameworks (Qt, etc.).
  • Experience in being a leading technical voice in small to medium-sized firmware teams.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Experience with C++17 or newer.
  • Experience with Yocto Project, Docker Containers, and Build systems.
  • Knowledge/Development experience with ARM core processors.
  • Experience with various communication and network protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility in working across timezones.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion (US/EU/UK).
