Job Summary

We are seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead one or more cross-functional product engineering teams focused on building scalable SaaS solutions. This remote-eligible leadership role is responsible for ensuring strong team execution, fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration, and delivering high-quality software to our customers. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and technical leads to ensure clear prioritization, sound technical decisions, and timely delivery. You will help develop the team’s engineering skills, uphold technical quality standards, and promote a “you build it, you own it” mindset—where teams are accountable for the systems they build, from design through production support.

If you are a strong people leader with hands-on software development experience, a focus on outcomes, and a passion for growing high-performing teams, we’d love to talk to you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and grow a team of full stack engineers delivering features for OEC’s SaaS products using Kotlin/Java/.NET, GraphQL, Angular/React, and AWS
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical ownership
  • Drive delivery across multiple initiatives, ensuring alignment between engineering and product goals
  • Collaborate with product managers to refine backlogs, clarify requirements, and prioritize work
  • Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and career development for team members
  • Support hiring and onboarding to scale the team effectively
  • Ensure systems are secure, performant, testable, and observable
  • Participate in architecture and technical reviews, with a focus on sound, scalable decisions
  • Backend: .NET/C#, Kotlin or Java, API design, microservices, distributed systems, and service integration patterns
  • Cloud and AWS: Amazon SQS, SNS, S3, EventBridge, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM, and cloud-native service design
  • Data stores: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Redis, and NoSQL data stores where appropriate
  • Messaging and streaming: Kafka, event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, pub/sub messaging, and resilient integration patterns
  • Platform and delivery: CI/CD, observability, automated testing, containers, Kubernetes or similar platform technologies, and secure software delivery practices
