Job Summary

To help develop these capabilities, the Equinix data center infrastructure management (DCIM) Product Management team is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Product Manager with a track record of leading engineering scrum teams and delivering customer-centric automation and IoT services and capabilities. This is an opportunity to help define and advance how enterprises around the world observe, orchestrate, and interact with next-generation data center infrastructure.

The role requires someone responsible for ensuring stakeholder needs and use cases are deeply understood, translated into functional and technical specifications, and managed through a development life cycle from start to finish. You will serve as an Agile coach and work closely with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders, building and managing relationships and product roadmaps. A strong understanding of product development, relationship management skills, and experience developing colocation and IoT products in a high-technology, dynamic environment is crucial to your success.

Responsibilities

1. Play a leading role in formulating and executing on product strategy, collaborating with key stakeholders, and execute on the committed roadmap
2. Involve engineers, designers and others to create a shared vision and clear goals for the product, including a well-defined product roadmap
3. Lead engineering scrum teams tasked with delivering world-class digital infrastructure experiences and APIs
4. Gather, document, design and test the best possible customer experience and incorporate the voice of the customer into the product roadmap
5. Work with Product Managers to define good confidence release deliverables for any given release
6. Be comfortable and effective in working in a fast-paced, collaborative, matrixed environment, and work closely with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
7. Serve as the subject matter expert and evangelist for the product
8. Research competitors and verticals; prepare reports related to financial position, competitive position and market potential
9. Create and collaborate on the financial business models and conduct compelling business opportunity reviews with the leadership team
10. Understand the business value and verify that the team delivers business value
11. Define metrics that will be used to inform product success and help drive user experience improvements
12. Identify improvements to existing product processes; develop a strong understanding of processes and technology
13. Evaluate incoming product-related issues from internal and external customers to determine the severity and response
14. Triage production software issues and follow up with cross-functional teams until fixes are tested and deployed
15. Design product training curriculum; lead cross-functional trainings and meetings
16. Work with the user experience teams and facilitate the development of user interface workflows aligned with functional objectives
17. Complete ad-hoc assignments that assist in the development of product strategy and roadmap
18. Collaborate with product engineering, network architects, network deployment, and service delivery teams to roll out new offers, releases, and markets.
19. Manage stakeholder expectations within and/or across functions
20. Identify and collaborate with partners to enhance the product
21. Partner with and deeply listen to customers, sales and operations teams, and other stakeholders to identify unmet needs and new use cases
22. Validate ideas with customers before, during, and after development
23. Help prioritize items to move forward among many candidates based on an analysis of the business opportunity vs. level of effort
24. Bring a rigorous and strategic mindset to evaluating and prioritizing competing requirements, including features, bugs, and tech debt
25. Collaborate closely with technology teams
26. Lead definition of allowable configurations, test cases and execute UAT
27. Lead triage of issues across UAT cycles and manage defect resolution
28. Manage stakeholder expectations within and/or across functions
29. Identify and proactively include correct stakeholders and communicate effectively
30. Utilize effective methods of communication with stakeholders, varying approach accordingly

Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field (or equivalent)
2. Proven years of prior experience as a Technical Product Manager or a Software Engineer
3. Experience with IoT technology and/or hardware/firmware integration preferred
4. API development experience and ability to extend the API into the platform and product
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation, customer service, business, and negotiation skills
6. Strategic thinking with a clear understanding of levers that drive modern IoT and SaaS offerings
7. Trained in Agile development methodology with experience as product owner/backlog owner
8. Experience with and ability to work with a global team across global time zones
9. Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities and extreme attention to detail, and ability to self audit work
10. Ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities
11. Be a highly motivated proactive contributor and subject matter expert on the product. Have familiarity with business issues or the ability to quickly learn
