Job Description

A Portfolio Accounting Manager will be required to manage the reconciliations service delivery, within the guidelines and procedures provided by HedgeServ and under the supervision and guidance of a Portfolio Accounting Director and Managing Director. They will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of daily operational deliverables (Trade, Cash and Portfolio reconciliations). They will assist in the development of client relationships and will require a detailed understanding of the service requirements for Hedge Fund Administration. Every Portfolio Accounting Manager will receive the requisite Induction Training in addition to both compulsory training (AML/KYC) and optional training. Additional client-specific training is provided by the Director and Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitoring and reviewing the daily operational deliverables and managing client relationships involving interaction with both the client and the relevant Portfolio and Fund Accounting Director to ensure consistency of service.
  2. Ensure the assigned team operates within the clearly defined and documented control environment.
  3. A Portfolio Accounting Manager should be capable of managing a team of up to 10 staff servicing clients with various requirements and deadlines.
  4. Review daily operational deliverables (Trade, Cash and Portfolio reconciliations).
  5. Resolve fund accounting enquiries escalated by Supervisor or Administrator.
  6. Ensure all aged items on cash and position reconciliations are resolved timely.
  7. Investigate accounting implications of new products.
  8. Manage and complete client initialization and transition.
  9. Participate in development and presentation of portfolio accounting training.
  10. Manage portfolio accounting recruitment, training and performance evaluations.
  11. Resolve exceptional problems and take on special projects or tasks as assigned.
  12. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments within HedgeServ.

Our requirements:

  1. 6 years' experience working in a Hedge Fund Administration Firm with at least 1 of those at Assistant Manager Level is desired.
  2. Accounting, Finance, Legal or Business Degree.
  3. Intention to actively pursue a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ACA), if not already started, part qualified or qualified, would be an advantage but is not required.
  4. IT Literate.
  5. Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to be flexible and work effectively both within a team structure or independently.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills.
  9. Good initiative coupled with the ability to identify when escalation is required.
  10. Reliable, flexible and dependable.
  11. Ability to positively influence team morale.
  12. Demonstrate leadership skills.
  13. Take ownership of designated tasks.
  14. Act as a role model for HedgeServ.
