Data Governance Lead

The position of Data Governance Lead will be an integral part of Axpo Poland, spearheading the data architecture development through management and enhancement of data set-ups and governance frameworks and the de-velopment of skills and practices related to data management. It is the application of not just data architecture and governance skills but an extensive capability for working with multiple stakeholders on all levels of the organization to deploy a unified data environment, unify the ways of working and build the sense of urgency and engagement to drive growth and reduction of technological debt.
That role will be crucial in cooperation with the Axpo Polska D&A Council (data & analytics) in rolling out a complete workbench on operational and analytical levels.
responsibilities :
Working with IT Architecture team to coordinate the growth of Axpo Polska’s systems in data and enterprise perspectives and to receive support on technology and enterprise architecture,
Working with Data engineers, to unify the ways of working around developing data flows and integrations, data structures and data rules across a diversified data environment on operational and analytical level
Working with Analytics teams, business teams and department heads to identify and support solving data challenges hindering both operational as well as analytical data processes.
Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architecture and infrastructure on operational and analytical / reporting levels.
Supervise data modeling, support development of central data storage(s) (data lake/WH), data integration to optimize data accessibility and usability.
Evaluate and recommend up-to-date technologies and tools to enhance data management capabilities and drive innovation.
Develop, propose and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives, in cooperation with Head of Strategy, Digital Product Management Lead, IT Architecture Team, Data Engineers.
Roll out and promote AXPO data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Define data quality standards and metrics to measure and monitor the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
Create comprehensive inventory (catalog) of current data assets, as well as identify future business needs. Lead creation of: data catalogue and accurate business term documentation
Supervise the implementation of robust data security measures to protect sensitive information and mitigate cybersecurity risks
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant standards.
Support the education of employees on data privacy best practices per-formed by the Legal Department and fostering of culture of data security awareness.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align data initiatives with organizational goals and priorities in the data domain.
Engage with business units to understand their data requirements and provide strategic guidance on data-related matters.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote data-driven decision making and ensure data integrity throughout the organization.
Leading the works of D&A Council (data and analytics council) to provide clarity and stakeholder alignment for changes in data set-up and their prioritization.
Lead a cross-functional team of data professionals, including data analysts, data engineers, and data scientists, to execute data initiatives and projects.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in data management practices with respect to data.
Drive change management initiatives to promote data governance awareness and adoption across the organization.
Establish roles and responsibilities for “data stewards” (persons responsible for the day-to-day management and integrity of specific data domains).
Support the work of Data Engineers in developing skills around data management and architecture and unifying the ways of working.
Participating in IT architecture projects by performing workshops in the data layer / domain / dimension, working closely with Enterprise architect.
requirements-expected :
Computer Science, Information Management, or related field degree at the Bachelor's or Master's level.
Ability to guide cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
Proven track record in project management and driving initiatives from conception to implementation in the data field.
Demonstrated expertise in designing and structuring data set-ups and flows, establishing scalable data storage solutions, and data integration.
Proven experience in overseeing data management and governance, data strategy.
Track record of successfully implementing analytical solutions that leverage data insights to drive business value, including deploying analytics platforms, developing data-driven applications, and provisioning analytical tools to support decision-making processes.
Strong understanding of data governance principles, data privacy regulations, and cybersecurity best practices.
Proficiency with Cloud technologies (GCP, Azure or AWS).
Proven skills in driving change among multiple stakeholders in the data governance and data management or another related area (it’s not about delegation, it’s about getting it done).
Entrepreneurial approach to defining own area of impact – picking projects / objectives in a measured approach.
Capability to work with autonomy, going outside of own comfort zone to define own focus and set priorities for self and the organization,
Strong team player with coaching capabilities to identify business teams’ and areas’ challenges, offer remedies and coach their implementation to remove roadblocks, be it skills, tools, mindsets or rationale needed to allocate the right resources, etc.,
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to build long-term trust.
Holistic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into data set-ups, approaches and solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Fluency in Polish and English is mandatory.
