Data Center Technician Job Description

As a Data Center Technician at Infotree Global Solutions, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data center facilities. Your primary duties will include performing hardware setup, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and decommissioning tasks. You will follow established procedures and protocols to ensure the efficient functioning of data center operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, stage, and set up data center hardware for startups and shutdowns.
  • Assist and provide guidance to other technicians in completing challenging tasks.
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling.
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes.
  • Communicate and report incidents to management.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Foster a positive team environment by sharing information and contributing to team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional knowledge of server hardware and component failures.
  • Ability to assist in conducting failure analysis and tracking server fleet health.
  • Solid experience in utilizing IPMI for diagnostics and administering software tools.
  • Proficiency in real-time issue resolution and Windows Server OS administration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues and work autonomously.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a data center technician.
  • Associate degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and safely climb ladders.
