Job Description

As a Senior Ruby Backend Developer at Prowly, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing or co-developing software to implement new features and maintain current ones
  • Collaborating with the product team using agile project methodology
  • Taking care of code quality, ease of testing and debugging, performance, and architecture
  • Manual and automatic testing of own solutions
  • Creating documentation for developed software
  • Setting up and maintaining test and production environments
  • Monitoring and optimizing platform operation
  • Reviewing solutions prepared by other developers
  • Reporting task progress and working time devoted to commissioned tasks
  • Presenting delivered solutions at internal meetings
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, we require:

  • Proficient in Ruby with 4-5 years of experience
  • Well-designed, testable, efficient, and maintainable code using web development best practices
  • A product-minded focus when creating applications
  • Knowledge of Ruby on Rails framework features
  • Experience in writing clean and clear tests with RSpec or Minitest
  • Experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL
  • Experience with non-relational databases, including Redis and Clickhouse (nice to have)
  • Good knowledge of Sidekiq or other background jobs tools
  • Experience with Rubocop or other code linters
  • Experience with Websockets
  • Experience working with Git/GitLab/GitHub in a CI/CD environment
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernates
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud providers
  • Knowledge of developing, composing, and debugging Docker containers
  • Knowledge of design patterns
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Self-documenting code
  • Knowledge of common web application security issues and best practices for securing Ruby applications
  • Experience in application monitoring (observability and debugging)
