**Job Description:**
Sites reliability engineers are responsible for ensuring that Google Cloud's services have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. We combine software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems.
The role involves managing the complex challenges of scale which are unique to Google Cloud, using expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. We strive to create an environment that provides the support and mentorship needed to learn and grow. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, manage the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design through to deployment, operation and refinement.
The ideal candidate will also develop Application programming interface (APIs) for essential AI functionalities across diverse data sources. They will collaborate with SRE teams to design, implement, and evaluate AI features, ensuring their quality.
In addition, the candidate will develop AI features like incident-support case matcher, similarity search, bug analyzer, to improve engineering efficiency and customer satisfaction. They will also implement production cohorting and regression attribution capabilities to enable insights into production workloads and targeted issue detection.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
We require candidates to have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages is required. Additionally, 5 years of experience with data structures or algorithms and 3 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems are necessary.
2 years of experience leading projects and providing technical leadership is also required. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use a systematic problem-solving approach.
