Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Residence Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our residential spaces and delivering an outstanding student experience.

Responsibilities
  • Space Management
    • Support the management of our residential spaces, ensuring the operational calendar runs smoothly and students' needs are met.
    • Lead, mentor, and guide junior team members to ensure they provide excellent support to students.
    • Oversee regular health and safety inspections to ensure students and staff remain safe.
    • Manage incident responses in the absence of the Resident Manager, ensuring high standards of property presentation.
    • Complete administrative tasks, including booking processing, check-in/check-out, early leavers, no shows, debt chasing, and purchase orders.
  • Sales and Income Targets
    • Contribute to achieving sales targets to ensure occupancy targets are met or exceeded.
    • Drive sales conversions through responsive customer service and proactive follow-up.
    • Monitor performance and report any issues to the residence manager.
    • Maintain relationships with local universities, education organizations, and stakeholders to secure future business.
  • Student Experience
    • Ensure students have an exceptional living experience, exceeding their expectations and encouraging re-bookings or referrals.
    • Manage complaints and offer excellent student experience.
    • Lead engagement activities with students, monitor feedback, and deliver action plans.
    • Act responsibly towards others and the planet, delivering on Yugo's three Pillars: YugoEco, YuPro, and YuGrow.
  • Team Support
    • Support the residence manager in leading junior team members and assist with recruitment and development activities.
    • Encourage a bias for action attitude and challenge boundaries to drive results.
    • Support creating a great work environment that fosters participation and teamwork.
    • Assist with key initiatives from support functions, including Sales, Marketing, Data and Analytics, Systems, HR, and Finance.
Qualifications

Key Skills and Capabilities

  • Dynamically manage resources to achieve goals and ensure students have an exceptional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English.
  • Proactive and organized, with a bias for action and timely response to students' and colleagues' needs.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and manage internal and external resources to accomplish goals.
  • Interpersonal skills to drive sales experience and negotiate effectively.
  • Administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft programs Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Essential:
    1. 5 years of supervising a team, preferably in front office, PBSA, or hospitality fields.
    2. Strong sales and negotiation skills, with experience developing and tracking sales and marketing campaigns.
    3. Operations experience, overseeing day-to-day operations and dealing with suppliers and third-party companies.
    4. Resilience and adaptability, with cultural diversity awareness.
    5. Qualification and/or willingness to undertake training for Carbon Literacy.
  • Desirable:
    1. Experience managing teams or change.
    2. Previous experience in CRM and Reservations software.
    3. Financial awareness, with managed and understood P&L and Budgets.
