Job Description

As a Programme Planning Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing the creation and delivery of accurate monthly programming grids for various channels, including Discovery Family, RealTime Africa, and Discovery Science and Animal Planet.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creating linear programming schedules and inputting the schedules into broadcast software IBMS (full training will be given)
  • Monitoring channels' performance and implementing short and long-term initiatives to ensure channels maintain their competitive edge
  • Working with Research to build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of audiences and competitors and to identify opportunities and threats facing the channels
  • Building strong relationships with Programming, Media Planning, Listings, Research, and NOS teams to seek input and share scheduling strategy


Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Passion for television and content, particularly factual content
  • Strong English language skills
  • Excellent computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • A team player with the ability to work effectively on own initiative when required
