About the Role:

You will contribute to a banking app project for a prominent financial group in Japan. The app serves as a cross-asset post-trade execution platform, integrating with third-party services for trade matching and settlement. It efficiently handles large volumes of trade data and offers features like a Trade Blotter and position reporting.

In this role, you will work on the backends of two apps. One application is used by internal users to upload and publish documents, while external users access published documents and statistics regarding client domains using the second application. The application components run on a virtual machine in AWS within Docker containers.

Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Daily tasks involve adding/modifying tables, views, functions, etc., in databases to display relevant data for the frontend.
  • Work on new functionalities in Python, participating in planning, design, testing, and code review.
  • Build rapid prototypes and work on fast-paced projects, effectively collaborating with a cross-functional multi-site team.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and work alongside other engineers to elevate technology and apply best practices consistently.
Key Requirements:
  • Advanced English language skills (speaking and writing) for international client communication.
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in Python programming.
  • Vast experience with PostgreSQL, including materialized views, triggers, isolation levels, and more.
  • Good understanding of database performance issues, indexes, and SQL language fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery tools and systems.
