Job Summary:

This role is part of the Global Business Services group and reports to the Lead Contract Accountant. The Staff Accountant will prepare billing documentation in accordance with contractual terms and partner with project teams to ensure high-quality invoices are issued to customers. This role will also support timely collections for past due balances for assigned customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with project managers and teams to issue high-quality customer invoices that meet internal control requirements, contractual terms, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure billing plans and related milestones for scopes of work are properly set in accordance with executed customer sales orders and project plans.
  • Prepare and follow up on complex billing documentation in accordance with contractual terms, reconciling billing plans to ledgers and contractual information.
  • Investigate and resolve past due payments, duplicate/short payments, or unallocated cash to ensure timely collections.
  • Maintain explanations for aging receivables on the accounts receivable weekly report.
  • Take proactive steps to ensure invoices are properly sent and received by customers.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers and follow up on outstanding situations.
  • Provide backup support to other Staff and Contract Accountants, including Cash Applications.
  • Participate in training new and existing staff, ensuring job aids are up to date.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as requested to support Westinghouse's business needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent experience in cash applications, billing, and collections.
  • No experience required, up to 3 years of experience preferred.
  • ERP and Financial Reporting Software Experience: SAP preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proactive, self-starting, and self-motivating.
  • Take initiative to learn, improve, or enhance current operations.
  • Manage upward when appropriate to resolve problems or improve processes.
  • Communicate internally and externally with diplomacy and tact.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize daily competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of common MS Office applications, such as Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in English and Polish.
