Job Title: Senior Accountant

Verisk is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join its Corporate Finance team in Krakow. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Verisk Corporate Accounting teams in the US and globally to provide exceptional customer service to the Verisk business units and management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve monthly journal entries in Verisk's accounting system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data in the general ledger according to US GAAP and Corporate Accounting policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate generation of financial reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and the board of directors.
  • Liaise with Business Units to complete various SOX controls around Internally Developed Software, maintaining appropriate documentation for all responsible SOX controls.
  • Support the audit process by providing documentation and explanations for financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare complex monthly balance sheet reconciliation, reviewing and analyzing account reconciliations prepared by junior staff members.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items in a timely manner, providing guidance on complex accounting issues and transactions.
  • Actively participate in the monthly closing process, including expense and balance sheet account analysis pertaining to owned areas, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the general ledger function, contributing to the enhancement of accounting procedures.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of work experience in general ledger accounting.
  • Master's degree in accounting or other relevant field required.
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) required, basic German beneficial but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel-extensive knowledge of Pivot Table / Chart, Macros, etc.).
  • Excellent communication/documentation skills (oral and written).
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
  • Detail oriented, meticulous, and extremely diligent.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop junior staff members.
