About the Role

As a Software Engineering Manager at TechnipFMC, you'll be responsible for driving the technical direction of projects, ensuring efficient and sustainable software development practices, and contributing to the growth and success of our organization. You'll lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply your strong knowledge and expertise in Kotlin/Java, TypeScript, React, and AWS technologies to guide the team in designing and implementing robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Architecture and Design: Collaborate with software architects to define and evolve the technical architecture of applications, ensuring adherence to coding standards, software development methodologies, and design principles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Performance and Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize code, and improve system efficiency, monitoring and analyzing application performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Agile Development: Promote and facilitate agile software development practices, including continuous integration, automated testing, and iterative development.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve software development processes and implement best practices, evaluating current methodologies, tools, and workflows to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of software deliverables.
  • Resource Planning and Allocation: Collaborate with stakeholders to assess project requirements and allocate resources accordingly, planning and managing the team's workload, assigning tasks, and ensuring that the necessary resources and skills are available to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage risks that could impact project timelines, budgets, or quality, implementing risk mitigation strategies, fostering a culture of risk awareness within the team, and ensuring contingency plans are in place to address potential issues.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the team's performance and the success of software development initiatives, regularly monitoring these metrics to identify areas for improvement, celebrate successes, and provide transparent reporting to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Team Lead/Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in software engineering, with expertise in Kotlin/Java, TypeScript, React, and AWS technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully leading software engineering teams.
  • Extensive experience in software project management, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies, design patterns, and software architecture principles.
  • Proficiency in agile (Scrum) development practices and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in performance optimization, scalability, and security considerations.
  • Passion for learning and staying updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.
