Job Summary

:

As a Project Field Engineer at Bechtel Corporation, you will be responsible for leading the organization, process/procedures, and direction of Construction Field Engineering and support staff. You will report directly to the Construction Site Manager and be responsible for all Field Engineering activities for the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement field engineering processes and procedures to ensure project, code, and corporate compliance.

• Establish and maintain the Field Engineering organizational structure with input from the Construction Site Manager.

• Perform or delegate personnel evaluations for field engineering and support staff.

• Ensure that field engineering and support staff are developing skill sets that align with Bechtel's and the individual's career goals.

• Develop and implement procedures that align with Bechtel functional requirements and coordinate functional approvals.

• Generate site-specific procedures as required to ensure construction operations conform to engineering design and specifications and unique customer or regulatory requirements.

• Develop and implement the Construction Work Package process to ensure timely deliverables to field personnel.

• Develop and implement the Work Control program in coordination with document control.

• Oversee the Subcontract Technical Representative program to ensure the technical aspects of all construction managed subcontracts are properly managed.

• Coordinate with Supervision to plan construction activities for immediate and long-range planning.

• Develop and implement the Field Engineering inspection process.

• Establish an Engineering/Field Engineering working relationship and lines of communication.

• Develop and implement the constructability program within the construction function and coordinate constructability issues with Engineering.

• Manage the Construction Field Change/Non-Conformance process and perform trend analysis on a periodic basis.

• Develop and implement the Quantity Reporting program within the Construction function, including control and reporting of weekly construction quantities.

• Develop and support the construction automation plan and its associated programs.

• Oversee the Issues Management team for Construction, including the creation and closure of corrective action plans and condition reports.

• Coordinate and manage the field engineering turnover process and deliverables with the Start Up group.

• Manage the Construction Action Item List to support and resolve constraints that impact field activities and CWPs.

• Implement and maintain the project welding control program and the project survey control program.

• Assist the Construction Site Manager in developing construction execution plans.

• Prepare and execute site mobilization and demobilization plans, direct the design of temporary construction facilities as required, and maintain temporary utilities site plans.

Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.

• Self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.

• Good working knowledge of current design codes and standards such as IBC, SMACNA, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ACI, ASCE, or its European equivalents.

• Must be highly proficient in work process development and implementation.

• Must be highly proficient in planning breakdown structure for and development of construction work packages.

• Must be proficient in cost and schedule analysis.

• Must be proficient in subcontract administration.

• Must have knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities, of all engineering disciplines, and jobsite management.

• Must have direct hire execution experience on projects of US$300M or greater.

• Prior experience with Nuclear Power plants.

• Prior EU construction experience as a Project Field Engineer Manager or Construction Field Engineer Manager.

• Prior Earned Value Management experience and training.

• Knowledge of all phases of project scoping, planning, and execution relating to the construction of multi-discipline works.
