Technical Lead for Digital Transformation and Cloud Architecture

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Solution Architect to spearhead our Payments & Mobile technology organization, driving the full architecture landscape of TUI's Mobile Applications and their supporting infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing key technical and design decisions from ideation through to implementation, collaborating closely with Heads of Product, Heads of Technology, and other key stakeholders. They will have a shared responsibility for the overall business outcomes for their area and act as the domain's spokesperson in senior technical engagements with other domains.

Responsibilities:

You will create and execute technology transformation activities and direct the technology strategy for TUI and each domain.You will help shape a vision and strategies regarding IT architecture to translate business opportunities and customer expectations into innovative IT solutions within Payments & Mobile domain.You will engage teams effectively, enhancing their capabilities and exploring new ways to improve solution quality, ensuring options are considered and recommended approaches are clearly designed with valuable solutions.You govern architecture patterns, policies, standards, and practices and define the technology strategy for TUI and each domain, using your knowledge of compliance and integrity of business strategies.You identify and plan architectural improvements in an agile environment, mapping discrepancies between current processes and desired states to continuously innovate processes and adapt them to market trends.You ensure that technical implementations align with enterprise and solution architecture standards and organizational objectives.You maintain a strong understanding of the bigger picture, keeping yourself informed of the latest innovations, technologies, patterns, and practices in the Mobile and Cloud spaces.You think ahead, understanding the overall business context and strategy, and use these insights to shape emergent architecture for TUI Mobile applications and their surrounding infrastructure.You ensure we have the architecture capacity, capabilities, and culture to deliver business outcomes sustainably and with the right level of quality from the outset.You utilize deep skills to help teams enhance their expertise in building first-class Mobile solutions powered by the latest Cloud architectures across the Domain.You drive for technical excellence, ownership, and self-organization at team level, helping teams find a balance between tactical solutions and long-term platform sustainability and maintainability.You research, evaluate, and test new processes and tools, assisting teams in utilizing them effectively, and collaborate closely with Technology Leads to increase Mobile, Cloud, and DevSecOps maturity in all teams to achieve agreed OKRs/goals at team and domain levels.As an experienced Solutions Architect, you possess solid experience delivering secure, scalable, reliable, maintainable Mobile and Cloud solutions.You enjoy working in a fast-paced agile environment and take joy in delighting mobile users with best-in-class experiences.You participate in or lead domain-wide engineering excellence efforts, proposing high-impact initiatives and projects.You work closely with Technology Leads, DevSecOps specialists, and other Architects to continuously improve the domain's Mobile and Cloud capabilities.You are an active member of global Mobile, Cloud, and Architecture communities, love learning new skills, and enjoy teaching others.You're not afraid to get stuck in and work directly with teams – you hate being in an ivory tower.

Qualifications:

We seek an experienced Lead Architect who can oversee architecture principles, coach teams, and foster reusability across systems. The ideal candidate will partner with senior stakeholders to align enterprise architecture with business goals, ensuring consistency and scalability across initiatives.

They should be a thought leader in Mobile and Cloud best practices, an active member of global Architecture, Cloud, and Security communities, and an authentic servant leader passionate about Mobile technology and Cloud architecture.

The successful candidate will have proficiency in translating business vision into viable technical strategies and conveying such strategies back to business stakeholders. They should also have experience working in an agile environment and integrating architecture practices in an agile way of working.

A great communicator and facilitator comfortable working across organizational and market boundaries, managing senior stakeholders, and able to disagree yet align.

Good grasp of experience with Cloud technology, design patterns, microservices, CI/CD, and DevSecOps, as well as hands-on technical knowledge and delivery experience in several areas, including Cloud solutions & deployment (AWS), Mobile eco-system, Distributed architectures, Digital transformation, Legacy platform migration, RESTful APIs, and API gateways.

Good knowledge of various Mobile platforms and technologies and the challenges working in a Mobile environment, open-minded, inquisitive, lifelong learner, comfortable with ambiguity, highly autonomous, and energized by complex technical problem-solving with an ability to push innovation through technical solutions.
