As a key player in the TV revolution, we're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team.

The Data Engineering team at Samba TV builds and maintains data pipelines. We're looking for someone passionate about making an impact in the design and architecture of our data platform.

In this role, you will define, schedule, and monitor data pipelines to create tools that improve development speed and increase visibility into dataset availability and properties. You will work closely with Data Science and other teams to leverage your expertise and gather feedback needed to further improve our data platform tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new data pipelines to create TV ad impressions and viewership datasets
  • Automate business processes and support visualization of key datasets
  • Analyze and improve data collection, storage, and retrieval processes for core systems
  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and business partners to develop tools and frameworks supporting self-service analytics
  • Improve observability and monitoring of production processes by instrumenting code and creating services exposing pipeline job and dataset state to internal consumers
  • Focus on individual job performance in processing pipelines; understanding algorithms powering them and trade-offs affecting runtime and resource consumption
  • Mentor members of other data teams improving their software engineering skills

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of industry experience; intermediate to advanced Python knowledge or strong desire to become an advanced Pythonista
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in written form
  • Comfortable working directly with Data Science and Analytics to bridge product requirements with Data Engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and analyze data
  • Strong mathematical inclination is a major plus
  • Previous experience with Apache Spark or similar large-scale data processing frameworks is also a major plus
