Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our HSES Health Safety Environment and Security Department in Kraków, Poland.
This role will require frequent business travel and involve preparing technical risk management plans for the design phase.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering, safety engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in process engineering and/or process safety.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment and Management Strategy
- Prepare and implement technical risk management plans for the design phase.
- Decide and advise on appropriate assessment tools for managing process safety risks.
- Present and explain safety concepts and approach to clients.
- Assess client requirements on safety standards and tools and support proposal and project management in contract negotiations.
- Support technical disciplines in identifying and interpreting external standards and internal company standards applicable to the project.
Hazard Identification and Analysis
- Plan, organize, support, and manage qualitative and quantitative safety studies in projects of all technology types, such as HAZOP, HAZID, What-If, SIL, LOPA.
- Analyze process hazards to provide insight into consequences and ways to develop effective prevention and mitigation.
- Perform modeling analysis work using DNV software PHAST and in-house calculation tools.
- Support creation of fire and gas detection concept.
- Support development of hazardous area classification documentation.
Functional Safety
- Facilitate application of Functional Safety Lifecycle in Projects by providing general advice and guidance to the project team.
- Establish Functional Safety Management Plan for the Project.
- Facilitate team reviews of Safety Requirement Specification (SRS).
- Participate in Functional Safety Audits and Assessments.
Site Work (Worldwide Travel)
- Advise commissioning manager on safety matters.
- Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- University degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or comparable engineering discipline with strong focus on Process Engineering.
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in process engineering and/or process safety.
- Ability and desire to be a generalist, interpreting and assessing technical information from various processes.
- Excellent communication skills, poise, and assertiveness.
- Autonomous working style and analytical mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and good teamwork capabilities.
- Very good command of English (both spoken and written).
- Willingness to travel and further develop professional skills.
- Command of French language would be an additional asset.
