About the Role

At Google, we're looking for a skilled Cloud System Reliability Specialist to join our team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to design and build large-scale, fault-tolerant systems that ensure our services are reliable and meet the needs of our customers.

You'll work closely with our engineering teams to develop software platforms and frameworks that improve system reliability and velocity. This will involve engaging in the entire lifecycle of services, from inception and design to deployment, operation, and refinement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable systems using automation and other mechanisms to sustainably scale our infrastructure.
  • Develop software platforms and frameworks that improve system reliability and velocity.
  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems to continuously improve our processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience leading projects and designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in computing, distributed systems, storage, or networking.
  • Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective verbal and written communication skills.
