We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Crop Science IT division

In Bayer Crop Science IT, we deliver innovative digital experiences for farmers, supply chain partners, and scientists who drive our R&D pipeline of seeds, traits, crop protection products, and digital agriculture.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing our open agronomic platform product called 'HortiView'. This project involves linking data and services from various vendors to benefit farmers in the fruits and vegetable space.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement our platform data strategy, focusing on sharing data from 3rd party vendors and external IoT devices for farming.
  • Drive data governance to ensure data standardization on the platform.
  • Create and implement a platform analytics concept to provide analytical services and tools for various stakeholders.
  • Provide insights using the developed toolbox, including BI reports.
  • Evaluate and implement legal data requirements, such as the EU data act.
  • Enhance our general software architecture and services.
  • Collaborate with product managers.
  • Coordinate software development activities with internal teams and external partners.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in full-stack development, data engineering/science, and data management.
  • Strong knowledge of backend development with the .NET Framework (C#, ASP.NETCore, .NET Core).
  • Familiarity with database technologies like Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Cosmos DB.
  • Experience with data harmonization and normalization.
  • Proficiency in modern development environments (Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio).
  • Cloud computing experience, preferably Azure.
