About Unit8 SA

We are a fast-growing Swiss AI and data analytics consulting and services company. Our mission is to drive the adoption of AI and Data Science in non-digital industries, helping them accelerate their digital transformation.

Our expertise lies in solving complex problems for traditional industries like automotive, chemical, financial services, manufacturing, and pharma. We work with some of Europe's biggest organisations to tackle challenges that directly impact their business operations, finance, manufacturing, or R&D.

We have successfully delivered over 150 projects and have grown to more than 100 talented individuals across five office locations. Our resources and time are dedicated to projects that matter to us, including pro-bono collaborations and 'engineering for good' causes.

Examples of Projects

  • We built a real-time production line monitoring system for the pharmaceutical industry, improving throughput by leveraging technologies such as AWS, EKS, CloudFormation, Docker, and Python.
  • We developed a system for calculating global climate scores, estimating the impact of climate change on natural disasters (floods, wildfires, and droughts) for the Insurance Industry, utilising PySpark, Python, and Proprietary Data Processing Platform.
  • In the Chemical Industry, we created a modern data science platform, including a data lake, using Azure, ML Studio, Data Factory, Databricks, and Spark.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in software engineering fundamentals and experience applying a blend of software engineering, machine learning, and statistical methods to solve real-world business problems.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience with cloud technologies is highly valued.
  • A pragmatic attitude, willingness to take an active part in project engineering aspects.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to explain complex analytical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent teamwork and client-facing skills.

What You'll Do

Your responsibilities will include working on diverse areas such as cloud engineering and infrastructure, data engineering, and ETL processes, as well as machine learning and data science.

You will collaborate with customers to understand their challenges, design and implement solutions, evaluate results, compare them, and present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You'll contribute to the implementation and engineering of systems at different scales, from small proof-of-concepts to larger end-to-end data systems.

Closely collaborating with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders, you'll use software best practices in continuous integration and delivery, versioning, and data evolution.

You'll work in multi-functional agile teams to continuously experiment, iterate, and deliver new product objectives.
