Role summary

We're looking for a hands-on Automation Test Engineer to design, implement and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts that validate functionality and performance of Java-based applications. You'll collaborate closely with developers and cross-geography teams to translate requirements into robust test cases, run and analyze automated test suites, log defects, and continually improve testing processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts using Java-based frameworks (JUnit, TestNG) and Selenium.
  • Create, review and execute automated and manual test cases based on application requirements.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines and schedule/rerun regression suites.
  • Analyze test results, log defects with clear reproduction steps and work with developers to drive fixes to closure.
  • Maintain and version-control test code, test data and test artifacts.
  • Identify gaps and propose process/tooling improvements to increase test coverage and reduce manual effort.
  • Keep detailed records of test cases, executions and defect reports for audits and future reference.
  • Communicate test progress, risks and quality metrics to stakeholders across time zones.

Required skills & competencies

  • Strong experience with Java unit and test frameworks:
    JUnit
    ,
    TestNG
    (plus exposure to mocking frameworks and related tooling).
  • Hands-on experience with
    Selenium
    (WebDriver) for UI automation.
  • Solid understanding of test automation best practices, test design (data-driven, keyword-driven), and test architecture.
  • Experience integrating tests with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Proficient with version control (Git), build tools (Maven/Gradle) and test reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging and defect-triage skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills — able to work with distributed teams.
  • Based in Poland and able to work with cross-geography stakeholders.

Experience & qualifications

  • 6–8 years of professional experience in software testing with a strong focus on automation.
  • Proven track record delivering automation frameworks and measurable reductions in regression cycle times.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience (preferred).

Desirable (nice-to-have)

  • Experience with additional Java testing tools/libraries (e.g., Mockito, PowerMock, Cactus or other legacy frameworks).
  • Familiarity with performance or load testing tools (e.g., JMeter).
  • Experience testing REST APIs (e.g., using REST-assured or Postman automation).
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud-based test environments.
  • Exposure to BDD frameworks (Cucumber) and writing feature files.
