Postdoctoral position available for 36 months within EU-Cofund program Basic Science for Society (BS4S) at Institute of Physical Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences (IPC PAS) in Warsaw, Poland.
The project addresses lab automation and development of advanced AI-based image processing tools to support the workflow of high-throughput microfluidic experiments. This involves the develpoment of automated dosing of nanoliter volumes of biomaterials followed by recognition and tracking of flowing/deforming microobjects ranging from droplets and microgels traversing microchannels to single-cells migrating the capillaries in perfusion experiments.
The candidate will join a dynamic interdisciplinary team aiming at development of new microfluidic tools for microtissue engineering with the goal of accelerating development of novel therapies, in particular those for which conventional preclinical models (cell monocultures or animal models) appear inefficient and/or inadequate, with particular focus on modeling cancer microenvironment for in vitro testing of immunotherapies.
The project will be conducted in close collaboration with the group of Prof. Giovanni Volpe from University of Goeteborg in Sweden specializing in AI-assisted image analysis and Prof. Silvia Affo from Clinic Barcelona, specializing in tumor miroenvironment.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS
→Mobility criterion: must not have resided in Poland for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately prior to the deadline of the Call (including remote work)
→PhD: possession of doctoral degree (in engineering, chemistry, physics, materials science, biotechnology, or related field) or a formal document confirming the defence of a doctoral thesis
