Maintenance Manager

Job Description
Position overview
Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities within an organization to ensure the efficient operation, safety, and reliability of equipment, machinery, and facilities management. This role involves planning, scheduling, and supervising maintenance tasks, managing maintenance staff, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset life. The Maintenance Manager collaborates with other departments to support production goals, controls maintenance budgets, and ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

• Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules to ensure timely servicing and repairs of machinery, equipment and facility.
• Coordinate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.

Team Leadership and Development

• Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance staff, including technicians and engineers.
• Allocate resources effectively to meet maintenance goals and deadlines.
• Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork.

Preventive and Predictive Maintenance

• Establish and oversee preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment breakdowns.
• Utilize predictive maintenance tools and techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography) to anticipate failures.

Troubleshooting and Repairs

• Lead root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure rapid response to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

Budget and Cost Control

• Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, including labor, materials, and external services.
• Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments related to maintenance operations.

Inventory and Spare Parts Management

• Maintain optimal inventory levels of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of critical components.

Continuous Improvement

• Implement best practices and lean maintenance techniques to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Analyse maintenance data and KPIs to drive performance improvements.

Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare reports for senior management on maintenance performance, issues, and improvement plans.

Requirements

• Higher technical education
• Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance or related department
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge (TPM, LOTO, other)
