Purchasing Director

Position: Purchasing Director - FMCG Manufacturing

Location: Central Poland / Hybrid

Company & position overview:

On behalf of our Client, a leading FMCG manufacturer with three production sites in Poland and a strong market presence across multiple categories, we are currently seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Director.

This is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer - Board Member, with full responsibility for developing and executing the company's purchasing and sourcing strategy. The chosen candidate will manage the end-to-end procurement function, including raw materials, packaging, indirect spend, and CAPEX, ensuring optimal cost efficiency, supplier reliability, and long-term value creation.

The Purchasing Director will also play a key role in supporting the company's growth and innovation agenda by driving strategic supplier partnerships, sustainability initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration between production, logistics, and R&D teams.

Scope of duties:

• Define and implement the purchasing strategy across all categories (raw materials, packaging, indirect spend, and investments) in line with company goals.
• Manage the central procurement organization, ensuring efficient cooperation with three production sites in Poland.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team, promoting a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best-in-class quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Establish and maintain strategic supplier partnerships, focusing on innovation, risk management, and sustainability.
• Ensure strong alignment between purchasing, production, logistics, finance, and R&D to support business priorities and innovation pipeline.
• Monitor and manage procurement KPIs, budgets, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Oversee tendering, contracting, and compliance processes in accordance with internal and external standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, digitalization, and supply security.
• Support new product development and capacity expansion projects with timely and cost-effective sourcing solutions.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
• Min. 10+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement within FMCG manufacturing, preferably in the food & beverages categories.
• Proven experience in managing strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations for raw materials and packaging.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading multi-site or centralized procurement functions.
• Excellent analytical, financial, and strategic thinking abilities.
• Familiarity with procurement systems, cost modeling, and supply risk management.
• Effective communicator with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in Polish and English (both written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel between production sites in Poland.
