PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Our Technical Release Managers ensure that our SAP CX Commerce product increments are released on schedule but even more importantly with the best possible quality. It is better to skip or delay a release than risking customer issues. In this context quality does not only mean functional correctness but also the adherence to non-functional SAP Product Standards.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As a Technical Release Manager, you will be deeply involved in the SAP Commerce product release processes. It is key to continuously improve our processes to assure that we can release our product increments as reliably and as smooth as possible.

This involves working collaboratively with various teams and internal stakeholders in different time zones throughout the release- and Micro Delivery Group (MDG) cycles.

The role will include the following responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the process and decision to release SAP Commerce product increments on time AND with high quality.
• Develop product increments yourself is NOT expected.
• Conduct relevant automated tests before a release to ensure that the new functionality works and no regression issues arise.
• Address release blockers as soon as possible and support the responsible teams in getting them resolved.Proactive collaboration with globally distributed Scrum teams upfront to help them meet deadlines, e.g., related to bug tickets or long-term development activities, for example, to adhere to an SAP product standard.
• Proactive collaboration with stakeholders such as our Program Manager or management.
• Continuously improving the release process.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong experience as Java Cloud Developer, preferable experience with SAP CX Commerce development (5+ years).
• Extensive practical experience with GitHub and Jira/Confluence.
• Excellent communication skills in English – both verbal and written.
• Distinct team player with a collaborative mindset, able to work very closely, efficiently with (remote) teams and stakeholders.
• Pronounced leading without authority skills.
• Ability to make difficult but well-informed and rational decisions independently.
• Strong Quality and customer-first focus.
• Confident with project management responsibilities, as administrational tasks and follow-up with Scrum teams and stakeholders are essential.
• Detail-oriented, thorough working style.

Experience with any of the following would be an asset:

• CI/CD (Jenkins).
• Azure portal.
• Kubernetes.
