We are hiring on behalf of our client, a global innovator in fitness and wellness technology. Their mission is to empower people to live fit, strong, long, and happy lives by delivering integrated experiences to millions of members anytime, anywhere.

As a Staff Software Engineer (with Kotlin/Java), you will play a key role in leading a cross-functional engineering team to shape, scale, and deliver robust e-commerce applications. You'll combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills to mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and deliver impactful solutions.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Build and nurture a culture of learning, transparency, and trust.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and mentor engineers, driving career growth and performance.
  • Organize team meetings, 1:1s, and feedback cycles to support individual and team development.

Technical Ownership

  • Lead the architecture, scalability, and performance of e-commerce applications.
  • Drive clean, maintainable, and performant systems using best practices.
  • Contribute hands-on to the codebase when needed and guide technical discussions.
  • Set technical strategy anticipating future platform needs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Design, UX, and Program Management to align goals and deliver roadmap objectives.
  • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders to balance product and technical priorities.
  • Identify dependencies and remove blockers across engineering, design, and product.

Culture & Continuous Improvement

  • Promote engineering efficiency, automation, and re-use through design patterns and modern practices.
  • Define and measure KPIs to track team performance and business impact.
  • Advocate for code quality and continuous learning through reviews, design docs, and knowledge-sharing.
Requirements:

Technical Expertise

  • 5+ years of software development experience, with commercial deployments in production.
  • Strong knowledge of Java/Kotlin and modern backend ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding of agile, lean, and DevOps principles.

Leadership Experience

  • 2+ years in engineering leadership roles, managing teams in dynamic environments.
  • Experience hiring, coaching, and building high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to mediate competing priorities and align cross-functional goals.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Strong interpersonal skills with empathy for engineers, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluent English, to drive alignment and clarity across teams.
  • Passion for technology, elegant code, and innovative problem-solving.
