Role Overview:

  • Technical leadership: The Engineering Project Leader role in Aptiv serves as the technical expert of the project, and has the responsibility to solve cross-competency issues within Engineering.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: This person is the Single point of contact to Customer and internal to the PM organization for the engineering project timing plan and execution of all engineering activities and deliverables, by supervising assigned sub-teams. Role include collaborating with the Engineering Program Leader to manage engineering deliverables on time, on cost and on quality levels with supporting documentation. It is expected that the EPjL acts as a Primary interface to Customer for engineering deliverables, time plan and execution.
  • Team management: Lead and mentor, cross-functional teams of engineers specializing embedded systems, software- and hardware-development and last but not least the test and verification-teams.
  • Customers: You will join a team working with Volvo Cars and all Commercial Vehicle OEMs in Europe (Volvo Truck, Daimler Truck, Traton and Iveco). Our team consist of 4 Engineering Program Leaders, responsible for one customer each, supported by in total 12 engineering project leaders.

Product and projects:
In our team, we are working with projects responsible to develop Android-based Infotainment products, as well as we also supply ADAS technology such as Driver Monitoring Systems and Radars to support road safety to our customers.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain compliant Engineering deliverables timing (HW (ME/EE), Validation, SW, Systems) in collaboration with the Program Management.
  • Monitoring that engineering execution is following standard work and best practices. The work products comply with applicable organization policies and procedures.
  • Owns customer problem troubleshooting and drives corrective action.
  • Responsible for coordination and delivery of the product solution hand-over to customer at milestones.
  • Participate in Big Room Planning, Program Iteration (PI) Demo, Program Iteration (PI) Retro.
  • Provide Engineering budget input for BBP cycle: Resource demand, Capital expense, material, credits.
  • Owns the collection, consolidation and agreement to Engineering spend against approved Engineering budget further to their assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the BOM cost and stretch and related technical topics.
  • Responsible to prepare and execute Design Reviews & Peer Reviews and completeness of the Design Review workbook in compliance with PDP process.
  • Responsible for the Technical Risk Register: Identify risks, project scope changes, evaluate, rate, action plans, change points and manage contingency plans.
  • Assure the engineering competencies are considering design for manufacturability (DFA, DFM).
  • Approve Start/Stop/Change/Signoff of engineering activity on project/component level work packages.

Your background and Required Skills:

  • Master's degree or bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant years of experience.
  • Preferred 10 Years' Experience in Development of Electronic Control (Systems Engineering, Hard- & Software Engineering), ideally in Automotive Domain.
  • Product Development Process knowledge and experience
  • Proficiency on technical reporting and summary.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment
  • Ability to network & collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization
  • Team oriented and self-driven
  • Planning / organizing skills
  • Customer contact experience
  • Honesty in relation with company, clients and co-operators
  • Understanding and using Servant Leadership
  • Excellent Communication skills in English language
