Radar systems Technician/Instructor

The Radar Systems Instructor/Technician is responsible for teaching, coaching, mentorship and

Instructing the end user for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of radar systems and their components. The Radar Systems Instructor also serves as the subject matter expert in theory of operation, troubleshooting, and system configuration. Furthermore, they assist in the modification, troubleshooting, repair, and function testing of radar systems when no instruction to the end user is needed. They report to the Program Manager and/or Radar Systems Supervisor who is overall responsible for the site. Must have experience with instruction on radar systems, radar system tools, diagnostic equipment, TDME, specialized test equipment, bench mounted test and diagnostic and analysis systems. Must be familiar with general automotive, artillery and radar shop equipment.

    MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

·    Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices.

·    Steel Toe shoes are required.

·    Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to:Face Mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices, and breathing apparatus.

·    Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

·    Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic condition.

·   Work will mostly be performed in a field maintenance environment inside a fabric maintenance facility. The facility is environmentally controlled, hours are generally 8/day x 5 days a week; however, overtime may be required given the gravity of the mission and schedule. Candidates must be flexible and committed to working the required hours to support this effort.

·    Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position.

·    Frequent exposure to conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

·    Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, as well as bend, twist, and squad for prolonged periods.

·    Must be able to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds.

·    Function in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.

·    Must be able to secure and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC),within three months of employment.

      SKILLS:

Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military radar equipment.

Graduate of US Army 94 series at the rank of E-5 or above, or other service equivalent.

    Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.

    2 years experience in radar maintenance, repair and instruction.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

·    High School Diploma or equivalent. One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

·    Must possess a valid State Driver's License.

·    Must be a U.S. citizen.

      EXPERIENCE

·    10 years of experience in radar systems or equivalent equipment.

·    Two years experience instructing radar maintenance, repair and operation.

      OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·    Frequent exposure to conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.

·    Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.
