About the role

We are partnering with a leading European retail group to find an experienced Finance Manager to join their Commercial Finance team .

This is a regional role supporting the business across multiple European markets. The position plays a key part in driving commercial performance, profitability, and strategic decision-making across product categories — including Clothing or General Merchandise.

You'll act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders in Buying, Planning, and Supply Chain, providing actionable insights that directly shape trading, pricing, and investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting across categories and European markets.
  • Deliver insightful commercial and performance reporting (sales, margin, promotions, KPIs).
  • Partner with Buying and Planning Directors to support trading decisions, range reviews, and investment cases.
  • Drive margin improvement through pricing, sourcing, and promotional effectiveness analysis.
  • Support category strategy development through scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis.
  • Manage governance of markdowns, stock ageing, and clearance strategies.
  • Improve analytical tools, automate reporting, and enhance system efficiency (Power BI, ERP).
  • Present financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and executive teams.
    Lead, coach, and develop a small team of analysts within Commercial Finance.

About you

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; ACCA / CIMA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial finance, controlling, business partnering, or FP&A, ideally in retail or FMCG.
  • Strong analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Proven experience supporting senior stakeholders and influencing strategic decisions.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP and Power BI tools is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (international working environment).
  • Comfortable working across countries and functions in a matrix organisation.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and resilient — able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
    Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
