Sourcing Engineer

Description and tasks

The Sourcing Engineer plays a pivotal role in identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to support the company's sourcing needs. Leveraging strong engineering expertise and market knowledge, this individual ensures the timely procurement of quality materials and components to meet business objectives and support global operations.

Responsibilities:

• Identify potential manufacturers and suppliers for fasteners, mechanical parts, electro-mechanical hardware, sleevings and tubings, insulating materials, moulded parts, and branded items.
• Form partnerships with prominent brands and manufacturers in India to leverage Exim's global customer base and presence in multiple geographies. Convery Exim's value proposition effectively to be an authorized distributor for these manufacturers.
• Explore opportunities for new product categories based on market trends and demand.
• Source potential suppliers in accordance with specifications and request for quotation (RFQ) requirements.
• Conduct price negotiations, establish commercial terms, and manage contracts effectively.
• Perform audits at manufacturers' sites, ensuring compliance with Exim supplier qualification standards and requirements.
• Monitor and update management on the status of sourcing activities regularly.
• Negotiate with shortlisted suppliers to secure the most competitive pricing with timely delivery, adhering to the company's schedule and payment terms.
• Manage the escalation process to promptly resolve material shortages and pricing issues.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with availability, quality, reliability, industrial trends, and regulatory changes that may impact the supply chain.
• Achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) to support the company's objectives.
• Undertake any additional tasks as assigned.

Candidate Profile

Pre-requisites:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
2. Min 3-5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement or supply chain management
3. Relevant experience in audit and costing is advantageous.
