As our Lead and second line manager, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance processes, tools, capabilities, and culture across our entire UK organization. Your key responsibilities will include implementing compliance standards and policies, partnering with global compliance organizations, managing a team of subject matter experts, and promoting a culture of ethics and integrity. You will also be responsible for enhancing the delivery of critical business activities efficiently and compliantly, assessing risk and developing mitigation strategies, and maintaining high standards and consistency in approach.

In addition, you will lead our Foundational Capabilities Team to deliver a comprehensive training curriculum covering compliance, product knowledge, and industry capabilities. Through ongoing learning and development, you will ensure that our employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and people management skills, high standards of organization, and a robust understanding of compliance in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience as a pharmaceutical industry compliance/governance expert is essential, as well as strong business & financial acumen, working across boundaries, strategic thinking, project management, productive communication, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance and Process Assurance:

Ensure compliance standards and policies are implemented and embedded in the UK, incorporating internal corporate policies and external regulations.

Partner with Global Medical and Human Health compliance organizations to ensure a unified approach to governance and process assurance.

Collect and communicate compliance-related metrics and updates.

Manage the HH Governance and Process Assurance team and indirectly (formally) manage the GMSA Governance and Process Assurance team.

Ensure process assurance and audit readiness.

Business Partnering:

Engage with the business to enhance the delivery of activities efficiently and compliantly.

Attend CRG meetings and ensure decisions are communicated and implemented.

Partner with leaders to assess risk, develop mitigation strategies, and promote a culture of ethics and integrity.

Maintain high standards and consistency in approach across activities requiring code review and certification.

Employee Foundational Capabilities:

Through the Foundational Capabilities Team deliver a comprehensive Foundational Training curriculum covering compliance, product knowledge, and industry capabilities – ensure documentation and tracking of training is undertaken and maintained.

Incorporate ongoing learning and developments into the training curriculum.

Leadership:

Provide strong people leadership, support, and motivation to the team. Balance advising the business, supporting activities, making decisions, and problem-solving.

The person in this role should model compliant and ethical ways of working as a role model to the organisation

Other:

As required, represent our company on relevant external industry compliance groups.

Attend cross-functional leadership meetings as a representative of Governance and Process Assurance.

Qualifications and Experience:

Excellent communication (written and verbal) and people management skills

High standards of organisation and record holding.

Experienced and a robust understanding of the ABPI code, PMPCA HCP or AQP signatory (signatory status can be obtained within first few months in role)

Significant experience as a pharmaceutical industry compliance / governance expert
