We are looking for a dynamic, academically-driven teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Akademeia High School community, which is already a well-established international school in its eight year of operation. About Akademeia:
Akademeia High School is an academically-selective school in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels alongside Akademeia Assessed Courses. The majority of our students are preparing to study at Oxbridge, Russell group, and Ivy League universities as well as acclaimed architecture, art and music schools. With a rigorous admissions process and A Level classes taught in the form of undergraduate seminars, the school pursues a pre-university university model. The school offers a robust scholarship programme, with 10% of places allocated to merit-based, partial and full scholarships. Together with Akademeia High School Foundation, the school also supports several educational outreach and community engagement initiatives.
About the job:
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is excited by the prospect of contributing to the development of the school curriculum, specifically within the area of Geography.
You will teach Geography to students aged 14-18, across a range of Geography courses at IGCSE and A Level.
The full-time teaching commitment is 20 hours of instruction per week with generous time allowances built into the timetable to facilitate effective preparation, marking, and report writing. The maximum class size is 12, which allows our students to benefit from more focused and personalised teaching. Teachers are expected to either be involved in pastoral care (tutoring of a small group) or supporting student clubs and co-curricular activities. The regular school week is from Monday to Friday, with occasional school events happening on weekends (e.g. open days, school trips) that teachers may be required to attend.
About you:
We are looking for professionals demonstrably committed to pursuing a career in education. The successful candidate will be able to both inspire and widen students' interests in their subject as well as effectively guide them in exam preparation.
Educational Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Geography
Experience
• Teaching experience specifically in A Levels or International Baccalaureate
• Thorough knowledge of the subject curricula: GCSE and A level
• Involvement in extra-curricular activities: professional, amateur, or voluntary
• Experience managing and leading groups of students/young people
