ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

The Tax Executive - VAT and Excise Tax will be responsible for managing the company's VAT and excise tax compliance and reporting obligations.

This role involves preparing, filing, signing and providing VAT and excise tax returns, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations, and providing expert advice on VAT and excise tax matters. The Tax Executive will also support tax planning and audit activities, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors and will also coordinate other team members' tasks.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

VAT Compliance:

  • Prepare, sign and provide to the tax office VAT declarations accurately and timely (on a monthly basis).
  • Ensure compliance with VAT regulations in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Monitor VAT legislation and update internal processes to ensure ongoing compliance.

Excise Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare, sign and provide to the tax office excise declarations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
  • Manage excise tax calculations and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.
  • Stay informed about changes in excise tax regulations and their impact on the business.

Tax Planning and Strategy:

  • Provide advice on VAT and excise tax matters to optimize tax efficiency.
  • Assist in developing and implementing VAT and excise tax planning strategies.
  • Conduct research on VAT and excise tax legislation and advise on potential risks and opportunities.

Audit and Litigation Support:

  • Prepare documentation and support the management of VAT and excise tax audits.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from tax authorities regarding VAT and excise tax matters.
  • Assist in resolving tax disputes, providing necessary documentation and analysis.

Advisory and Collaboration:

  • Advise internal teams on VAT and excise tax implications of business transactions and contracts.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure accurate VAT and excise tax accounting and reporting (e.g. SOX, Control Navigator etc.).
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and legal counsel on complex VAT and excise tax issues.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in VAT and excise tax management, preferably within a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
  • Technical Skills: Good knowledge of VAT and excise tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software and accounting systems (e.g. SAP).
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in Polish and English, both written and spoken, with an ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts in English
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external advisors.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification preferred.
