Job Summary
Pepco Group was established in 2015 and comprises two strong, independent value retailers – Pepco and Poundland, which also trades internationally under the Dealz brand, together with a global sourcing arm, Pepco Global Sourcing (PGS), which works very closely with both operating companies. The Group Procurement Category Manager (GPCM) – Energy will lead end-to-end procurement and vendor management for energy across the business. By implementing an efficient and economically ‘value-added’ procurement strategy, the GPCM aims to deliver savings in line with ESG objectives and ensure business continuity across Pepco Group entities.
Reporting to the Group Head of Procurement for Continuous Improvement and Sustainability, this role focuses on identifying opportunities for efficiencies, cost control improvements, and fostering strong supplier relationships.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop and implement energy strategies with a focus on cost-saving and sustainability targets. Negotiate with energy suppliers and manage services. Provide input for energy budgets across all geographies and control budget realization. Build relationships with key suppliers to drive innovation. Manage Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program for energy services. Lead Request for Proposals (RFPs) with suppliers, aligned with the overall strategy. Lead projects within the energy procurement category, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and cost optimization. Reassess vendors periodically within the procurement sub-category. Ensure governance compliance, contract management, and supplier management across Europe. Conduct benchmarking and market intelligence, mitigating risks and maximizing opportunities. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements. Play an active role in the company’s Sustainability plan. Ensure legal and policy compliance in procurement decisions. Manage and develop a team.Requirements:
University/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Proficient in written and spoken English. At least 5 years of work experience in a similar role in energy procurement across Europe is a must Commercial and contract negotiation experience. Understanding of European energy markets and the retail/hospitality sector. Knowledge of procurement processes, contractual terms, financial statements, and trade law. Excellent understanding of sustainability requirements in the energy sector. MCIPS qualification desirable. Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large volumes of data. Project management skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of suppliers and stakeholders. Innovative problem-solving skills. Strong negotiation and leadership skills.We offer:
