Damen Engineering Gdansk is a competence center for engineering-to-order offshore and specialized vessels, with a strong drive for optimizing ship performance. We are involved in the engineering process from the moment an idea is generated by the client to the vessel delivery. We transform the initial design into a complete and practicable engineering package. Our experienced engineering department also provides support during the production phase of each ship. Close collaboration with the client throughout the process allows us to respond quickly to any changes and ensure we deliver tailor-made solutions.

Role Overview

The IT Workspace Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring a seamless IT experience for employees by providing technical support, maintaining IT infrastructure, and administering key workspace technologies. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing user accounts, and ensuring IT systems run efficiently to support business operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide hands-on technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Maintain and administer IT workspace infrastructure, including desktops, laptops, printers, and collaboration tools.
  • Ensure timely resolution of IT service requests and incidents in alignment with SLAs.
  • Support and configure Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and other business applications.
  • Implement and enforce IT security policies, including device management and endpoint protection.
  • Assist in IT asset management, tracking inventory of hardware and software licenses.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to deploy system updates, patches, and new technologies.
  • Provide training and documentation to end-users for self-service troubleshooting.
Provided User Support
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for onsite and remote users.
  • Support user access to corporate applications and troubleshoot login/authentication issues.
  • Configure and deploy IT equipment, ensuring proper setup and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist employees with collaboration tools (Microsoft Teams, VPN, etc.).
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate IT teams when necessary.
Maintenance and Administration Tasks
  • Monitor IT systems to identify and resolve performance issues proactively.
  • Maintain and administer Active Directory, including user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
  • Support email and communication systems, ensuring smooth operation and security.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and backup procedures.
  • Maintain documentation for IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, and asset inventories.
Essential Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and IT support ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, VPN, LAN, TCP/IP).
  • Familiarity with endpoint management tools (Intune, SCCM etc.).
  • Understanding of IT security best practices and endpoint protection.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills (local language and English).
Preferred Experience
  • 2+ years in IT support, service desk, or desktop support roles.
  • Experience with ITIL frameworks and service management best practices.
  • Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and AI technology for automation.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
